A student who has a thorough knowledge and background in english will succeed in university because of two reasons. The first reason is; in any serious university course a fair amount of reading and writing would be required, obviously. The second reason regards the personal success level achievable by an individual. If a student, or anyone for that matter, expects to have any degree of success in life, a grade 12 english should be a top priority.
The literacy test literally tests the literacy of the youth but it is no way a accurate representation of the persons ability to communicate with others. In a grade 12 english university level class tools for communication, writing and effectively delivering points are understood. Without any form of formal education regarding communication society and our world will collapse as a whole. Communication is a key tool in our society and we wouldn't be here without it. So yes, I believe that we should bother with Grade 12 University level english because it completes our knowledge of communication.
